Andrew Gowans Porfolio

This site is a portfolio of work by Andrew Gowans. Primarily this is a place to document the published games I have worked on as a Designer, but it will also be used to provide information on my film work, exhibited photography, and Flesh Eating Ants & Dehausset records which I co-ran.

Please note I am a Game Designer not a Web Designer, and although this site is "under construction" it will remain a relic of a time when people made webpages in notepad.

Bio.

Born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland; growing up with a love of games, film, and music. Gained an MA in Geography (Human) from The University of Edinburgh in 2006, during which I spent five years working in academic libraries as a Shelving Assistant then a Library Assistant (yes, I was a librarian!).

The day I graduated I accepted an offer to join I-play as a Quality Assurance tester for mobile phone games, thus beginning a life-long dream of working in the games industry. After three years of training I gained a position as a Designer working on titles for the iPod Touch, iPhone, and Facebook, which I worked at during my final two years at I-play.

In addition to my work and studies I spent a lot of time in Vancouver, BC where I co-ran Flesh Eating Ants and Dehausset Records which allowed me to release music by some of my favourite artists - on vinyl no less. After the label ended I went back to my love of filmmaking and made a feature length comedy film 'Street Punks' which is now complete and available to download and view online.
